At last night's Board Game Social, held on what I once heard on a radio quiz is the unluckiest day of the year (although I can now find no verification of that "fact" anywhere!), we were lucky enough to be blessed by the presence of a large and lovely and lively bunch of players willing to take their chances and pit their wits at a wide variety of tabletop titles.
The throng of enthusiastic gamers included three familiar faces who were joining us for the first time in a while - great to see you again Gandhi, Matt and Ruban - and three brand-new faces joining us for the first time ever - a huge LeadBelt Games Arena WELCOME to Natasha, Becca and Andy - we look forward to seeing you all at many more sessions in 2024
We got started early for yesterday's Sunday Social, and the turnout was fantastic! Many thanks to everyone who came to spend some of their New Year's Eve playing games with us... and kudos to those who did the whole 10-hour session (and were still hankering for more)!
Unfortunately, the session had to come to a close at 9pm, allowing folks to get out to parties or home to family and friends. But there was plenty of talk about the possibility of us all seeing in the New Year together at LeadBelt, so I think we'll probably look at planning a full-on New Year party at the end of 2024 (but don't quote me on that).
Lovely, vibrant gaming evening at the Arena yesterday - our Thursday Board Game Social crowd sharing space with wargamers, skirmishers and an RPG group - we love it when the place is buzzing with tabletop gamers of all kinds rubbing shoulders together and sharing their passions!
Alongside the D&D group and people playing Mordheim, Ronin and Warhammer 40K, Legions Imperialis and Kill Team, the Board Game Social welcomed three brand-new visitors (great to see you Lotte, Dan and Paul, and look forward to more sessions to come) and enjoyed playing...
Yesterday's Sunday Board Game Social was yet another well-attended session in which a staggering number and variety of games were enjoyed by our avid bunch of players. It's a perfect way to spend a Sunday!
Thanks again to everyone who comes along and makes these sessions so warm and wonderful. We have more room at our tables for new players, and our regulars are incredibly friendly and accommodating, so if you're into board games (or fancy finding out why some of these games are so beloved) you should definitely come and join one of our sessions - Thursdays from 5 pm and Sundays from 12 noon.
Fantastic atmosphere in the Arena yesterday! Once again we had a multitude of players of all manner of tabletop fare enjoying their jam alongside each other, sharing our ample space in perfect harmony! Just what we love to see!
My name is Gary and I am one of the founders who started the Nottingham Board and Wargames Club with Matt Anderson, then I moved forward with HobbySpotz and Now LeadBelt Arena. I have been in the industry on and off for over 3 decades and have a good understanding of the spaces, business and trends within Tabletop gaming and gaming in general. So with my wife, Helen, and others from our little collective over at HobbySpotz, we started to look at gaming and the space as somewhere to help others be themselves.
A ladder league is a ranking system for players in a particular game. Players compete against each other and earn points based on their performance in each game. These points are used to rank players on a ladder, with the best players at the top and the worst at the bottom. The rankings are updated after each game, and players are matched against others with a similar ranking to ensure fair competition.
